The kingfisher hide has space for two photographers during each session. If you would like to bring a guest or secure exclusive use of the hide, please book Kingfisher hide for two after you have selected your date.

There is a possibility that you may be joined by one other photographer if you book one space.

As autumn gives way to early winter, November is a key month for our kingfishers as they settle into their established territories. By now, most juveniles have dispersed and the adult birds have reclaimed their winter feeding areas. With shorter days and cooler temperatures, the kingfishers become increasingly focused on feeding efficiently — making this one of the most rewarding times to photograph them.

As winter approaches, kingfishers rely heavily on steady food sources, so the wildlife pond and reflection pool become an essential part of their daily routine. Visitors this month can expect beautifully soft winter light and vibrant plumage as the birds’ feathers reach peak condition ahead of the coldest part of the year.

Kingfisher visits range from five minutes to an hour.

While I have done the best I can to encourage Kingfisher daily visits, chances are high that you will see the kingfisher but with any wild animal I have no control over this or the weather.

On a calm, still day expect anywhere from 10 - 20 visits, on windy and wet days expect fewer visits. Some days will see higher or lower visits.

If a no show happens you can make one reschedule for free.

"Guests love how much thought has gone into the hide and surrounding habitat. Every detail from the perch system to the clean, natural reflections. This was designed to make the photographer and kingfisher feel completely at ease. Most visitors enjoy multiple visits lasting between five minutes and an hour, often the closest and calmest encounters they've ever had with wild kingfishers.
